Not many venues have space for your dog posse at brunch. Thankfully the Cornershop is an exception. This popular local cafe dishes up tasty morsels for breakfast, lunch and dinner with outdoor seating right on the village green.
The Cornershop menu is all about wholesome ingredients, creativity and dishes that are just that little bit fancy. You’ll find your classic breakfast staples of course, such as poached eggs and granola but with seasonal additions. The hero of their menu is their buckwheat and blueberry waffle, which arrives with crème brûlée, grilled banana, maple syrup and salted caramel puffed buckwheat. There’s even a kids version! Or if sweet foods aren’t your jam, you’ll be sure to love the spiced braised meatballs with grilled ciabatta and parmesan.
It’s not just the food (and flavoursome coffee) that will keep you coming back for more. Cornershop Cafe is rare a gem in that you’ll find more space for your pups outside than seats for humans. Tables for two line the sidewalk facing onto the Yarraville village green. This large turfed space opposite the Sun Theatre means you can bring all of your dogs. Yes, all of them. There’s room for them to lie down, mosey around (on lead of course) and enjoy pats from passersby. They’re also guaranteed to receive pats galore from the attentive and friendly Cornershop staff.
Of course, tables for two mean this isn’t a great space for brunch with large groups of humans unless you’re leaving the dogs at home. For couples and dog walking foodies though, Cornershop’s lovely outlook and covered outdoor seating is the perfect place to treat yourself.
