Big dogs rejoice! Say goodbye to tiny fenced dog parks with no space to run and tumble. Kevin Hayes Reserve Dog Park in Mordialloc offers an enormous fully fenced off leash space where dogs of all sizes can enjoy themselves.
The dog park sits on the western side of the park and runs alongside Heatherton Drain. Extending for 250m, the park has two entrances: one on Bear Street and the other on Crown Avenue.
If you’re driving, Crown Avenue is the place to start. While the park only has single spring-loaded entry gates, it is so large that you’re unlikely to run into any troubles getting in or out of the park. From there, you’ll find a leafy walking trail around the edge of the park (approx 700m). This bounds a huge grass field, perfect for pups looking to run their little legs.
Kevin Hayes Dog Park features all the latest mod cons. There are bins and doggy bags plus agility equipment (if you pup is one of the few who know how to use it)! You’ll also find a large sheltered picnic area in the middle of the park next to a muddy water fountain. The picnic tables are perfect for groups and dog parties. And it goes without saying, an undercover space is incredibly useful if you’ve underestimated Melbourne’s weather.
A favourite among locals, you’ll never be short on dog friends at Kevin Hayes. With plenty of parkland nearby and a dog-friendly cafe or two, you easily can turn Kevin Hayes Reserve Dog Park into a short pit stop on a longer adventure through the area.
