Vince and Me, Altona

While Altona might be most famous for its dog beach, there is plenty more for dog owners to enjoy in this cute Melbourne suburb. Top of our list is the delightful dog-friendly cafe Vince and Me. A recent addition on the local cafe scene, Vince and Me dishes up fun and colourful food with plenty of outdoor seats for you and your pup.

Vince and Me is one of those rare Melbourne cafes that manages to nail both light breakfast eats and satiating long lunches. Yes, unlike most Melbourne cafes, lunch at Vince and Me isn’t an afterthought. The team has carefully crafted a burger menu that is as satisfying as it is creative. Their epic burger list includes soft shell crab, dukkah chilli and lentil, and their mouthwatering pulled lamb. Burger fiends all over town will be licking their lips.

Of course, you can still grab your early morning breakfast. Even as late as 2pm. Their menu features all the classics plus some tempting additions like their filling Southern Style Cornbread and Spicy Salmon Poke Bowl. It’s all reasonably priced too. Nothing on the menu passes the $20 mark. They even plate a delicious “Salad of the Day” for $12 that is perfect for health conscious eaters on a budget.

The lovely thing about Vince and Me is that you can enjoy all this delicious food, rain or shine. Their outdoor seating is all undercover and there is a 1.5m tall wall of glass panelling wrapped around the pavement tables that should keep you dry from (most) Melbourne weather. It’s also a convenient safety barrier from passing traffic if you can’t grab a table in their green alcove. There are dog water bowls and smooth pavers underfoot. Plus their lovely attentive staff certainly don’t mind greeting a pooch or two.

Vince and Me has a lot to offer dog owners: scrumptious food, seating during a drizzle and friendly service. They even have a kids menu to keep the little ones happy. Suffice to say, it would certainly be remiss not to stop by on your next trip to the dog beach and treat your whole family.
